Dr Emmanuel Pertsoulis

Principal Dentist / Practice Owner

Dr Pertsoulis, who has a bachelor of dental surgery (University of Sydney) and a diploma in clinical orthodontics (City of London Dental School), founded Maroubra Family Dental in 1997.

He enjoys helping patients with their dental needs and establishing a relationship with them for life. His goal is always to provide outstanding dental care at an affordable price. Dr Pertsoulis particularly enjoys using his artistic background to create long-lasting, beautiful dentistry. He also appreciates his role as mentor to the quality dentists on his team. His plan has always been to create a legacy for Maroubra in having an outstanding family dental practice.

Originally from Sydney, Dr Pertsoulis enjoys working with his hands in various media to make functional, beautiful times out of wood, glass, stone, leather, clay and precious metals. He also uses his artistic talents in gardening and is currently working his third home garden, creating an outstanding living work of art. In addition, Dr Pertsoulis enjoys running, ocean swimming, playing tennis and travelling.

Dr Janie Hsieh

Dental Surgeon

Dr Hsieh calls Taipei, Auckland and Sydney her hometowns. She has been a team member of Maroubra Family Dental since 2007. Educated at the University of Otago (Bachelor of Dental Science) and the London Institute in Seattle, Washington, USA (dental implant surgery), Dr Hsieh is a recipient of the Trinity College London Grade Nine Piano with Distinction award.

About her work at the practice, she says: ‘I love seeing the smiles on my patients’ faces when I know that we’ve made a change in how they feel about their teeth and have made an impact on improving their oral health. Dentistry connects science with art, and it is always evolving. The variety of cases we see make my job interesting. Through my job, I also get to meet many new people and have the opportunity to help people. All of these would not be possible without a wonderful team of staff and colleagues who are always working together to provide the best care for our patients.

Outside of her work, Dr Hsieh enjoys meeting new people, travelling, reading, going to the gym and playing music with her boys.

Dr Sheng Zhang

Dr Zhang has extensive training in dentistry, with a bachelor of dental surgery (Adelaide), bachelor of oral health (Sydney), master of clinical periodontology courses (Bern University) and pinhole surgical technique (Pinhole Academy), general orthodontic residency, facial beauty institute and master dental implant program (Brenner Implant Institute). Among his special awards are the Adelaide University medal, Pierre Fauchard Academy Award and Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons prize.

Dr Zhang finds his job rewarding in that he can provide early intervention of dental and health conditions to make a meaningful difference in a patient’s quality of life.

Originally from Syndey, Dr Zhang enjoys travelling, studying, cooking, reading and playing volleyball when he is not working.

Dr Andrzej Osipowicz

Dental Surgeon

Dr Osipowicz has a Bachelor of Dental Science Degree (University of Queensland) and a graduate diploma in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopaedics (London City Dental School). Originally from Sopot, Poland, he enjoys creating lasting changes with preventive and conservative health strategies for patients of Maroubra Family Dental.

Anna Broyda

Hygienist

A valued member of Maroubra Family dental for nearly a decade, Anna has a bachelor of nursing (University of South Australia) as well as an Advanced Diploma of Oral Health (dental hygiene).

When asked about the ‘best parts’ of her job, Anna shares that there are several: patient care, providing a safe place for patients and empathy and understanding for those patients who might have had a bad experience in the past. She says it is great when patients make a change in their oral health habits, such as changing their tooth brushing techniques and introducing flossing, and seeing the effects that can have on their oral health. Anna also appreciates having the opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team of dental professionals every day.

Anna, who was born in the former Soviet Union, enjoys exercise (particularly pilates), reading, cooking classes, travelling and spending time with family and friends.
